Christ the Redeemer is a loving, growing, active, multi-generational, multi-ethnic congregation seeking to serve Jesus Christ in the Rowlett / Garland / Rockwall area. We are a family of believers who consider Christian community and discipleship to be essential components of a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. For that reason, the central focus of our life together is our gatherings for worship, Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and outreach to those in need.
We are theologically orthodox and combine the rich liturgy of the apostolic tradition with biblically based preaching and teaching incorporating a blend of traditional and contemporary music. As an evangelical Christian community, we stand firmly in the faith handed down from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His divinity, the full authority of Scripture, and the teaching of the apostles. With our liturgical worship, the Sacraments are important aspects of how we draw near to God. Holy Communion is central to our worship, and we partake of this sacrament each Sunday as we gather for common worship.
We are a mission-minded church and our commission remains the same today as it was when given to the apostles by Jesus himself in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you….” We seek to be obedient to Christ’s command, and this is reflected in our worship, outreach, and ministry. Each member of our church family is encouraged to find his or her God-given role in the mission of the gospel and use individual gifts for the “building up of the Body of Christ.”
The clergy are called to “equip the saints for the work of ministry” and not to be the primary ministers in all the various ministries themselves. One unique outreach at Christ the Redeemer is our Mission & Ministry Committee. Christ the Redeemer supports numerous ministries and missionaries physically and financially. Through the Mission and Ministry Committee, a tenth of all church income is distributed to mission and ministry opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally.
The Anglican Church is the historic protestant Church of England which is now a global communion of churches. As a church body in the Anglican tradition, we are part of a global communion whose roots trace directly back to the Great Commission. In the Anglican tradition, we share common liturgical forms and traditions rooted in the ancient church and the historic Church of England established during the Protestant Reformation.
We encourage you to “come and see” the love of Jesus Christ and our church family at Christ the Redeemer!
